Our Mission
To uplift and serve underprivileged children in the Columbus community by providing them with bags which were created to provide impoverished children access to resources they might not typically have access to. Resources like a healthy diet and stimulants like books have been shown to boost IQ and correlate to positive life outcomes, such as graduating high school and attending college.

Eva - Co-President
Hi, my name is Eva Shearer and I am the co-president and co-founder of Uplift Youth Volunteers! I am a junior honors psychology major on the pre-physician assistant track. I was inspired to create Uplift based on an existing program called Food2Go4Kids that works in my hometown Ligonier, PA. I hope that Uplift can make a positive impact in these children’s lives for years to come. I’m looking forward to the start of a new club year and expanding our reach in the Columbus community.

Sarah - Co-President
Hi everyone! My name is Sarah and I’m a third year Public Health Sociology major on the pre-med track. I’m so excited to begin my second year as Uplift’s co-president and co-founder, and we have some really exciting things planned that I can’t wait to dive into. I love kids, and interning this past summer at a pediatric behavioral healthcare facility solidified my plan to work with them professionally one day. I also know that there are underprivileged kids right in Ohio State’s backyard, and one of the reasons Uplift was founded was to serve that population. Pop in a meeting this fall to see what we’re all about!

Jack - Vice President
Hey everyone! My name is Jack and I am a junior planning to major in Biomedical Engineering. In high school, I was part of a Book Buddies club that worked with elementary kids to improve their reading abilities. I loved serving my community and seeing the growth in my buddies. Being part of Uplift has allowed me to continue this mission while also providing underprivileged students with the resources they need. This year, I am thrilled to serve as Uplift’s vice president and help expand this club and its positive impact. Find us at the activity fair and give this club a try - you won’t regret it, the officers are pretty cool too.

Megan - Social Media Coordinator
Hi everyone! My name is Megan and I’m a third year Visual Communication Design student. I’m the social media coordinator for Uplift (i’m the one posting this lol) and I’m so excited to see this organization grow over the year! I love helping others and working with children so being involved in Uplift is the perfect way to do those within the Columbus community and I can’t wait to see the differences we make together!

Nick - Treasurer
Hey Guys! My name is Nick Miller, I am from Dayton Ohio and I am a third year student majoring in accounting. In high school I was always involved in community service and this club is a great way to continue to help those in need. I am looking forward to this year!

Casey - Member Outreach Chair
Hi everyone!! My name is Casey and I’m going into my fourth year as a double major in psychology and theatre. As the end of my undergrad is approaching, I am hoping to attend graduate school to pursue school counseling. In addition to Uplift, I’m also involved in Ohio State’s Shakespeare and Autism Program as well as Ohio State’s main stage theatre productions. I absolutely cannot wait to get to know all of the new members and help expand a community that spreads goodness, kindness, and love!

John - Operations Chair
Hi! My name is John Winbigler, and I am currently a third year biology major, and I’m also pre-vet. I joined Uplift since I wanted to have a positive impact in the parts of the community that are underserved and underprivileged. Being able to help young students has helped to make my time at Ohio State enriching, and I’m excited to help the grow and serve improvished students in Columbus!
